Award-Winning Chef Appointed Culinary Director

Byrknes Ocean Resort has entered into an agreement with acclaimed chef Christopher Haatuft, who has been appointed Culinary Director for the resort's restaurant and dining concept.

Haatuft is best known as the founder of the Michelin-starred restaurant Lysverket in Bergen. With extensive experience, a distinctive culinary philosophy, and a deep passion for exceptional ingredients, he will lead the development of a kitchen inspired by the sea, the coastal culture, and the remarkable landscape surrounding Byrknes Island.

His vision is to create a culinary journey rooted in Basque gastronomy, where fish and shellfish take centre stage, complemented by the flavours of fire and open grilling.

"We are delighted to welcome such an inspiring and accomplished chef to the project. Our ambition is to create dining experiences that become an integral part of everything Byrknes Ocean Resort represents," says Chairman Even Hopland.

Byrknes Ocean Resort is currently under development in Gulen, Western Norway, and is scheduled to welcome its first guests in September 2027.
